Explain things in ways your toddler understands
Your toddler is going to learn a lot of new things once that baby arrives. One thing you may not have considered is basic anatomy–especially if the baby is a different sex than your toddler. Aside from that, your toddler is about to see a brand-new, wrinkly baby and may not understand everything she sees. Pull out newborn pictures of your toddler and show her what she looked like when she born. Show her the umbilical cord stub, and explain that a baby’s head is soft on top so she can learn to be gentle.
