My sister-in-law recently went through the experience of having a colicky newborn. Colic is still a bit of a riddle to doctors, but it’s characterized by a seemingly healthy baby that cries 3 or more hours a day, at least 3 days a week, for over at least a 3 week period. It eventually works itself out, but the hardest part of it all is trying to understand what, if anything, your baby needs. For already exhausted new moms, it can cause additional stress and sleep deprivation.
