Family relationships are undoubtedly the most important thing in life. So as parents, it’s important to help your kids create a strong sibling bond–one that will carry them through life’s ups and downs. Strong sibling bonds that carry through life help your kids as they age, start families of their own, and help see them through after you’re gone. Ideas To Create A Strong Sibling Bond

Let’s start by saying that we aren’t preaching perfect sibling relationships here. We all know there will be plenty of times when the kids argue over stuff, tease each other, and have misunderstandings. But it is still very possible to create a strong sibling bond amidst the conflicts. The idea is for the all the fun times to more than balance out the not so fun times. Studies show that siblings who ignore each other and have no meaningful interaction as they age, are the siblings who maintain that distance as adults. So the sibling fights are better than not interacting at all!

Here are some ideas to create a strong sibling bond:

  • Notice the types of activities that tend to get your kids involved in playing and hanging out with other, and encourage more of those activities.
  • On days that the kids aren’t getting along so well, suggest an activity that you know both of them enjoy. Or get them in the car with you to go and enjoy some time at the park. create a strong sibling bond | family relationships | siblings | sibling bond | family | families | sibling relationships | relationships | parenting | parenting tips
  • When one child has a game or recital or other event, make it a family event. This encourages all the siblings to support each other in everything they do.
  • Give your kids projects or chores that need two or three of them to work together. This helps create a strong sibling bond as they help each other to accomplish a job.
  • When your kids are playing happily together, don’t make them stop if you don’t have to! Let them play well together as often as they will.
