Survival skills for camping with kids

To be successful at camping with kids, try these tips and tricks:

  • Before you head off on your first overnight camping trip, practice in the backyard at home. This is a really good idea, especially if you have little kids who are unsure about a tent or sleeping outside. Camping in the backyard will show them how much fun it can be!
  • Have the kids help you in the planning process. Ask them what they’d like to do while you’re camping–go on a hike? Catch some fish? Also get their input on food. If they are super excited about cooking hot dogs and s’mores over a fire, make sure it goes on the itinerary.
