Cons Of Paying Your Kids For Good Grades
Paying for good grades doesn’t help every child do better.
- Not every child cares about money. Know what is likely to be a better incentive for your child.
- If your kids are already motivated to achieve good grades regardless of external rewards, don’t spoil it. The best reward really is that sense of accomplishment they feel from knowing they are doing their best.
- Some parents have set amounts for good grades, such as $5 for every A. For a child who is capable of straight As this is fine. But for a child whose best is a B or even a C, adjustments should be made so that child doesn’t feel less because they can’t reach the $5 threshold. Amounts should correspond to each particular child and his or her abilities.
So should you pay your kids for good grades? Only you can answer that question for your family. But whether or not you decide to do so, inspirational sack lunch notes are always a good idea!
