Not just as a mom, but as a full time teacher, I can tell you that reading with your children is one of the best activities you can do together. Getting both parents involved… even better, even if on alternating nights. Research shows that not only do children who regularly read with their parents perform better in school, but that their ability to focus and their overall behavior are markedly improved as well. CNN shares some research findings on the benefits of reading with children here. Parents, really, give up 15 minutes of TV and spend it with your children. You’ll find that you didn’t really “give up” anything at all.
