It’s October, and that means it’s time for some pumpkin decorating ideas! Carving pumpkins, and the associated muck, is not always the easiest thing to do with little half pint peeps. So our best pumpkin decorating ideas are actually mess-free! Or at least free of sticking your hands in pumpkin gunk. Take a look!
This first idea really is completely mess-free. That’s because all you need are some spools of ribbon in various Halloween or fall-themed colors and prints. Use brass tacks to securely adhere the ribbons to the top and bottom of the pumpkin you want to decorate. You can use as many ribbons as you like, in whatever colors and patterns you prefer. Don’t forget to tie a bow around the stem when you’re finished!
I love this pumpkin decorating idea, too! Just let your child stick their Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head accessories into a pumpkin and make whatever face they like. It’s easy, fun and mess-free!
Make a fabulous fall-themed pumpkin by using a faux leaf garland for hair. Draw on some lips, add some stylish paper specs or a Dollar Tree mask, and your pumpkin is finished. This one is a unique pumpkin decorating idea!
This next pumpkin decorating idea isn’t entirely mess-free, but it’s a mess of a fun kind. Let your child use their watercolors or finger paints to liven up their orange pumpkin. You get to help add a face with a Sharpie paint marker. Look how terrific these pumpkins look!
I couldn’t leave out this pumpkin decorating idea because it’s so adorable! Use white pumpkins, faux flowers and modeling clay to create pumpkin unicorns. Wrap the stem of the pumpkin with a modeling clay rope. Use craft paint to paint the “unicorn horn” gold if you desire. Hot glue the faux flowers to the top of the pumpkin. Use a permanent marker to add some eyelashes if you like. So cute!
